A great pair of loafers are never too far from our minds this time of year. We love this croc-effect pair in black teamed with a tonal look of dark jeans and a cropped wool jacket in grey: simple but effective.
Pair a statement skirt with socks and point-toe ballet flats, or kitten heels, for a quirky look that can work for both day or evening. For ultimate style kudos, make it a black tulle skirt (see the style we’re coveting here) – it’s perfectly on brand for AW24.
In what we’re dubbing the ‘Sézane-ification’ of autumn (the French fashion brand has had a strong marketing game on Instagram this month), it seems the best new season look comprises of double denim, paired with a printed, cropped jacket.
Speaking of double denim, we love the combination paired with silver jewellery, as seen on model Amanda Norgaard, above.
After a flash of mild weather at the weekend, and some more on the way, we’re vying to try the ultimate ‘fashion girl’ transitional outfit: straight-leg jeans, a knitted cardigan and simple, strappy sandals.
Yes, white linen blazers are traditionally for spring and summer, but it’s not too late to wear yours now. Instead of pairing it with bermuda shorts or dresses, as you would have during the warmer months, opt for combining it with a pair of full length jeans, loafers and a textural bag such as a great leather cross-body in a rich shade of chestnut or cognac.
On the topic of great transitional looks, this one stands out. It’s the combination of the brown suede trench (see here for similar), the ultra-cosy knit underneath and the black sandals that make it feel novel.
However, if a more traditional autumn look beckons, may we suggest this layering idea by Polo Ralph Lauren as inspiration. It’s the perfect balance of classic prep and autumnal enthusiasm. Finish it with a great belt.
Grey blazers are starting to creep back into the fashion consciousness again: this time we want ones that are soft to the touch and relaxed, but aren’t devoid of structure. We’re plumping for one we can wear with shirting and jeans with a slim silhouette, just like style influencer Claire Rose Cliteur, pictured.
As for accessories? Perhaps the wildcard of the season is outré cowhide print. Find it splashed across handbags and ballet flats – an alternative to the ubiquitous leopard print that’s been embraced by the fashion crowd. (Speaking of, shop the best leopard print ballet flats of the moment here.)
