Where To Eat Out Over The Easter Break

Whether it’s for brunch, lunch or anything in between, there are lots of exciting options when it comes to dining out this Easter …

Pickle, Camden Street

Fans of Pickle (of which there are deservedly many) will be happy to hear that proprietor Sunil Ghai is offering to, on request, create a personalised tasting menu, unique to each party this Easter. The menu will include a bounty of seasonal and local produce cooked using North Indian techniques and recipes. A tasting menu is a fantastic way to experience a variety of dishes that you may not have tried before, along with the usual favourites. Be sure to try the goat keema pao which is served with fluffy bread rolls to curate your very own Indian style sloppy joes at the table. The bespoke tasting menu must be ordered for the entire table and consists of five courses costing €65 per person. It sounds like money well spent to us. www.picklerestaurant.com

Camus Field Kitchen X Caitlin Ruth

Caitlin Ruth has earned something of a cult status in the food industry for her innovative food and cocktail experiences. Utilising the very best of what Cork has to offer, this Easter, Caitlin is teaming up with Camus Field Kitchen to offer a pop up Easter dining experience like no other. The menu is a well-guarded secret but we are told it will include Woodcock Smokery hot and cold smoked tuna, pickled asparagus and a welcome cocktail that boasts homemade marmalade and candied clementines in its ingredients list. The pop up runs from Friday April 15 – Sunday 17 at 7pm and at time of writing there were some tickets (€60) still available via Eventbrite.

Winedown, Montague Street

Fans of Maeve O’Malley’s addictive toasties from Meltdown are in for a treat with the new spring menu from Winedown which has recently undergone a complete makeover from menu to interiors. The new menu consists of a range of snacks, smaller plates and larger plates with offerings from the land, from the sea and from the ground. The small plate Moroccan fish stew with crusty bread is full of prime fish and a staggeringly generous portion for €11 and the croquettes from the snack menu come in three flavours, each more addictive than the last. www.meltdown.ie

Stathams, Kilkenny

Stathams restaurant at The Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny has been on my list for quite some time now, their mouth-watering Instagram feed making me instantly want to jump in the car and drive to Kilkenny. This Easter weekend they will be serving brunch from 12pm – 4pm including dishes such as loaded hash browns with crispy bacon and Hegarty’s cheese sauce or wild mushroom toast with garlic, shallots and parmesan on toasted sourdough. On Easter Sunday, roast lamb with all the trimmings will also make an appearance along with a very special Easter sundae. www.pembroke-hotel.tablepath.com

Morelands Grill, The Westin

If there were only one reason to visit Morelands Grill this Easter, it would be to try the michelada cocktail. Which is a revelation. I have long considered attempting to make these at home as a refreshing change from a margarita but the combination of Corona beer with Clamato, lime, Worcestershire sauce and spices both intrigued and repelled me in equal measures. And thanks to Morelands Grill, now I know and consider myself a convert. Food wise, you cannot go wrong with the Josper grilled Hereford beef burger or the duck confit eggs benedict but you might go for the food and end up staying for the michelada. Morelands Grill serve brunch from 12pm – 3.30pm every Sunday and this Easter Sunday, the a la carte menu will also be available for those with more substantial leanings. www.morelandsgrill.com

Overends Kitchen, Airfield House, Dundrum

Airfield House has a whole host of Easter themed family events over the Easter break with the Easter Bunny making an appearance on Sunday 17. The weekend family roast in Overends Kitchen includes a roast chicken to serve two adults and two children with all the trimmings for €68 while the standard brunch menu will also be available. www.airfield.ie/
