51 days and counting …
There may be 51 days until Christmas, but that hasn’t stopped some of our favourite brands from dropping their Christmas ads a little bit early. First up, is John Lewis who – thanks to the surge of early Christmas sales recorded this year – has released its ad a week ahead of schedule. Titled ‘Unexpected Guest’ it puts a space-themed twist on the festive season, telling the story of a lost alien who crash-lands on the earth.
Hot on its heels comes M&S, whose 2021 Christmas food advert includes a cameo from Percy Pig. Yes, he – finally! – speaks. The ad follows the story of the Christmas fairy, voiced by Dawn French, who visits the M&S Foodhall in Stratford, London and accidentally brings a very hungry Percy – voiced by Spider-Man actor Tom Holland – to life. Needless to say, chaos ensues …
While Boots is marking the season with the hashtag #bagsofjoy – enlisting Academy Award winner Tom Hooper to direct its wonderfully festive ad, which stars BAFTA-nominated actress Jenna Coleman. It tells the story of a girl called Joy, whose bag magics up the perfect Christmas presents for all of the special people in her life.
Lastly, Littlewoods Ireland debuts its 2021 Christmas ad – a touching tale of a hardworking mother and her daughter Ava who are busy prepping for Christmas.
