The flavour of the month? Mango, apparently. Mango butter, derived from the seed of the fruit, has long been used as a vitamin C-rich moisturising ingredient that’s easily absorbed by skin and lips – you’ll spot it in many lip balms. And this summer it’s featuring more prominently in some of the juiciest beauty products to hit the shelves – here are three delicious ones to brighten up your bathroom:
Mango makes a star appearance in perfumer Jo Malone’s Jo Loves fragrance, Mango Thai Lime, a juicy little number that’s just restrained from being overly sweet with the lovely zesty sharpness of lime leaf plus herbs like thyme and mint – it’s a brilliantly unisex scent with the sweet and the sour, and gets earthier the longer it’s on your skin. Originally limited edition, it’s great to see it come back. £115stg, www.joloves.com and www.spacenk.com.
Meanwhile, mango also stars in pharmacy brand Klorane’s Mango Butter shampoo, for dry hair (€15 for the new giant 400ml size). Klorane sources mangoes sustainably from India for their haircare. There’s a choice of Chamomile shampoo for blonde hair, and Oat Milk for all hair types, and suitable for even the youngest and most sensitive scalps. Available in pharmacies nationwide. www.klorane.com
Finally mango pops up in Neom’s Great Day Magnesium Body Butter, a blend of wild mint and mandarin blended with shea butter, mango seed butter and coconut oil to nourish and soften the skin. €46 at stores nationwide including www.seagreen.ie. See www.neomorganics.com for more stockists. The good news is that Neom recently opened a standalone store – its first in Ireland – at Kildare Village, where you’ll find some great savings on some of Neom’s core wellbeing ranges (eg the Sleep & Glow Face Care Gift Set €72.50 is €48).
