The Lip Colour That Stopped Us In Our Tracks This Week

Soft, light and with a gorgeous shine, beauty editor SARAH HALLIWELL loves this new LIP PRODUCT by TOM FORD

We see lots of new lipsticks every season, but this week I discovered a new lip product that truly made my heart beat faster. Tom Ford’s new collection of Lip Lacquers for summer are truly exquisite. If you’ve tried his click to activate Patent Lip Polishes, with a spongey applicator, you’ll know he gives good gloss. Somehow a colour just looks sexier when it’s in a TF case. The new lacquers (in 18 shades) come in matte, patent and metal finishes, so you can go soft and subtle summer nude right through to full party mode.

My instant favourite is Liquid Patent Orchid Fatale, a classic Tom Ford colour that’s rich and decadent. It looks as if it will be too dark and dangerous for daytime, but actually goes on in a really luminous way, and the best thing is that as it fades during the day, it leaves an even soft blotted colour on lips that looks as good, if not better, than a full coat. It’s a million miles from all these metallic lip paints that are so popular at the moment – which practically require a scrubbing brush and full-strength kitchen cleaner to remove. This is soft, light and with a gorgeous shine. And this is why you’ll pay big bucks (gulp – €49). Forget just one Cornetto; I’d happily forgo an entire summer’s worth of ice creams for just this one.
