A key beauty collaboration launches today: the LANCÔME x MERT & MARCUS limited edition collection is exclusive to Brown Thomas and Arnotts from Wednesday January 29. “Any true makeup lover can’t help but be seduced by the depth of the intense colours and metamorphic magic this collection invites you to concoct,” enthuses Lisa Eldridge, creative director of make-up at Lancôme for the past five years.
Featuring two eye kits (in 01 Green and 02 Blue), complete with Transforming Liquid Eyeshadow, Glitter Eyeshadow Topper, false eyelashes, lash glue and Midi Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara, these bring together a complete look in one neat box (€85). The liquid eyeshadow is sleekly rich and metallic enough to make a statement by itself, with just one sweep along the upper lashline. But add a layer of the glitter topper and you get a light-catching finish with colour as rich as a peacock’s feather. These are also available separately, in four shades (€29). Also for eyes is a showstopping palette with ten shades, from ultra-matte to iridescent (€65).
For skin, the new Teint Idole Ultra Duo Stick (€28) is a neat tool, with highlighter and blur to give skin a glow. And a Duo Colour Lipstick combines two shades in one bullet, and comes in a Flaming Lips Lip Kit together with L’Absolu Gloss for a super-shiny finish.
Lisa Eldridge is excited about these creative and bold new products. “The collection has a very playful side, which enables the wearer to change the effects, and finishes of the colours and to dial them up from subtle mysterious to full-on! With this collection, we are encouraged to be a chameleon. The shades in this collection can satisfy every mood and side of your personality, from a very subtle ‘nude’ monochrome look to an intense high fashion look.”
As well as the sleek packaging, it’s the rich textures and strong pigments that are highly seductive. “We all wanted this collection to contain the strong primary colours, pigments and metallics that are so present in M&Ms work but for them to be easy to apply, blend and paint with. The collection has been created with layers in mind, which enables easier application for the non-makeup professional,” says Eldridge.
Eldridge certainly knows what we want from our beauty products right now. “I believe it is anything which has real thought, ideas, authentic personality and integrity behind it. And this collection is 100% true to Mert and Marcus’s original style.”
Her personal picks are eye palette and the eye kits “as they are key to giving you the classic ‘Mert and Marcus supermodel on the cover of a glossy magazine’ look.”
