One of Ireland’s most luxurious hotels, historic Dromoland Castle in Co Clare, was the setting for last weekend’s special Wine Series Dinner hosted by THE GLOSS – the first ever outside Dublin. It was the perfect spring escape in spite of the rain and snow, combining delectable wines and delicious food with great comfort and service. The highlight was the six-course wine dinner in the elegant Earl of Thomond Restaurant on the Saturday evening when THE GLOSS wine editor Mary Dowey introduced a superb champagne and five outstanding wines, each one chosen to complement an exquisite dish by Dromoland head chef David McCann enshrining the first flavours of spring. An earlier tour of the Dromoland wine cellar and a short wine tasting on the Saturday afternoon followed by post-prandial drinks meant a leisurely breakfast in a Dromoland four-poster was just the perfect start to Sunday.
