The First Tom Ford Beauty Boutique is Open

And we’re certainly factoring a visit to the COVENT GARDEN beauty store into our next LONDON TRIP

More and more, we’re seeing luxury beauty brands break out from the traditional department store set-up and express themselves more fully in a dedicated boutique. In Paris recently, where there’s a lovely Frederic Malle fragrance boutique, we also spotted a dedicated Estée Lauder fragrance boutique featuring Jo Malone London, Tom Ford and Malle. The concept of a “perfume bar” or destination boutique – like our own Parfumarija – is gathering momentum: Liquides, also in Paris, featuring covetable brands like Byredo and Arquiste, is influential, as is Aedes de Venustas in New York’s West Village, stocking everything from Serge Lutens to Astier de Villatte. And big fashion/beauty brands, including Chanel, have lead the way with standalone beauty stores.

Now the first Tom Ford beauty store has opened in London’s Covent Garden. It is, of course, a seriously good-looking, sexily-lit space showcasing make-up, skincare and fragrance for women and men. You can try on any lip colour shades, but virtually, to see what suits you. There’s a “personal scent laboratory” with an “interactive scenting installation” for discovering the Private Blend scents (which are some of our favourites ever – do not miss Noir de Noir or Venetian Bergamot). We also like the sound of “luxury sampling”. There’s a private make-up room for applications and demos by TF specialists, and you can book ahead for masterclasses, brows and bridal services. Men have a dedicated Grooming Room with expert barbers delivering beard trims, express facials and hot towel wet shaves, alongside a full range of skincare. We’re certainly factoring a visit into our next London trip …
