The Best Make-Up Gifts to Give This Christmas

2 MIN READ SAVE

The amount of good-looking beauty gifts out there is, frankly, dazzling. It’s brutally hard to narrow them down. But here we go – these top seven make-up picks, from vegan brushes to party palettes, cover all bases. The tricky part is giving them away …

1 THE HOT DROP
For day or for evenings out, the Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette features a beautiful range of wearable shades, from spice tones of cinnamon and paprika through to rich jewel tones. And it’s currently half price at Boots and www.boots.ie at €24.50 (was €49).

2 THE GLOSS
Even if you’re more of a matte girl at other times of the year, winter’s the time to bring on the gloss for glamour and shine. While we’re distracted by the many glitter lipsticks around at the moment – anyone with a weakness for disco will fall for Dior’s limited edition gold-cased versions – it’s hard to beat a Tom Ford lip gloss, specifically the Lip Gloss Luxe: they catch the light in a most Studio 54 manner and are blissfully soft and non-sticky to wear. €45 at counters nationwide and www.brownthomas.com.

3 THE COLLECTABLE
A Chanel red lipstick in a (limited edition) click-up black and gold case. What could be more classic, beautiful, useful and timeless? The Rouge Allure Luminous Intense lipsticks range from pale pink to berry: go for orange-red 827 or more blue-red 837. €41, at counters nationwide and www.arnotts.ie.

4 THE DESK TO DINNER DO-IT-ALL
Not all palettes contain colours that are universally wearable, but this Bobbi Brown City Dusk Eyeshadow Palette sure does. It’s a neat size for any bag, too. €47.50, at www.theloop.ie.

5 THE PARTY TREAT
So bright, you need to wear shades: this Dior 5 Couleurs Happy 2020 is only for the disco divas, or beauty magpies who can’t resist the lure of brilliant colour. Fun and fabulous. €56.70 at www.debenhams.ie.

6 THE MONEY NO OBJECT EXTRAVAGANCE
We have generally sworn off beauty advent calendars this year – all that packaging – but have to make an allowance for the Charlotte Tilbury Glittering Galaxy of Make-up Magic (€185): you get 12 gorgeous items, including several full sizes, and it looks and feels really substantial and glamorous. From Magic Cream to Pillow Talk lipstick, this is the one that we want. www.charlottetilbury.com

However, for a smaller budget (€30), we’d go for Charlotte Tilbury Mini Hot Lips Charms, featuring JK Magic nude, Amazing Amal, which is a matte wine shade and berry-pink Viva La Vergara, all tiny enough to fit in the smallest purse or pocket. Very handy for when you’re out all night …. Finally, even if you’re generally avoiding the Black Friday frenzy, the Tilbury deals are worth checking out; there are some whopper reductions of 30 per cent off until December 2. www.charlottetilbury.com

7 THE LOCAL HERO
For some kit essentials, this eight-piece brush set by beauty brand Fuschia ticks all the boxes: it’s Irish, vegan, eco-conscious – with bamboo handles – and cruelty-free. €39 at www.fuschia.ie and at pharmacies nationwide.
