LEONARD DALY knows how to get the glow. Here’s his take on the new collection from Charlotte Tilbury for summer …
Since launching in 2013, Charlotte Tilbury has taken the beauty world by storm. When the brand launched they had a genius marketing plan: a set of “iconic looks”, each with a set of specific products to achieve it. It is so simple but genius; I remember shopping in Selfridges, London, and seeing a queue of people at the counter asking for all the products for the Dolce Vita or whatever look they wanted. This, for me, was the best idea that any beauty company has ever had and the same looks are still selling, six years later. Just brilliant!
Now the brand is creating stand-alone products in addition to the specific looks. The new collection for summer, Glowgasm, is all about creating light on the face. The powders have a super-subtle sheen to them, which I love. It almost looks like you are lit with candlelight. There are two palettes available, light-medium and medium-dark. Each has four powders: Light it, a soft champagne to highlight; Glow It, a more intense illuminating powder with a warm glow; Pop It for a youthful rosy blush, and Bronze It, a neutral cocoa colour to sculpt and define your features. There are ingredients that almost act as filters on your skin to blur and make it look perfect.
There are also new shades of the Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, a product that’s been inspired by the digitally-remastered tricks of Hollywood and the face filters of social media. The payoff from these highlighters is far more intense than the powders, so use them very sparingly. They are incredibly easy to use, with a sponge on the end that you pat the product into the area with and then blend with your fingers. These also contain skincare ingredients, such as Lindera extract, a plant root extract that actually helps hydrate your skin. I love a make-up product that double-jobs as skincare.
