The Beauty Buzz: This Brilliant Foundation is Back in Ireland

Years ago, BT2 on Grafton Street had an Illamasqua make-up counter, and I think the only people who bought anything were make-up artists. I genuinely don’t know why, as the brand, founded in 2008, was always innovative, with some incredible textures and finishes that you couldn’t find anywhere else. They made the most matte matte lipstick before it was a trend – I didn’t like it then either. But they were ahead of the game, with one of my make-up heroes, Alex Box, creating the most beautiful images for the brand.

Fast forward to today and you can finally get the brand in Ireland again. Cloud 10 now stock it online, along with some other brilliant brands. I get that buying make-up online can be hard, as colour-matching can be an issue for foundations, but Cloud 10 do have a customer service team available on live chat so that you can discuss what products you’re using at present and they will match what you’re using to your perfect shade. And let me tell you, you will not be disappointed with the foundation – it has a beautiful skin-like finish but is buildable so even if you like a fuller coverage you will always achieve that perfect healthy skin look. Worth the risk buying online, in my book. It will cost €30, which is not cheap but not mega expensive either.

On the website, there’s a very well-curated selection from Illamasqua, including my absolute favourite cream eye shadows: there are four shades available in the Nude collection, with Mesmerising being my number one – it’s a perfectly warm shade that will complement most skin/eye colours. For a super subtle look, just dab onto your eyelid with your fingers. If you want a more intense metallic look, apply with a stiff eyeshadow brush until you get the desired effect. A little goes a long way and you will have these pots for months and months, making them a bargain at €19.50.

The Beyond Powder highlighter is beautiful for a super-soft sheen giving you perfect-looking skin; use with a bigger brush for more subtle highlighting or a smaller, more packed brush if you prefer a more intense highlighter look. At the moment if you spend €100 on Cloud 10 you get a free gift worth €100, packed with great bits from Emma Hardie, Vita Liberata and lots more.
