Summer Beauty Hair Buys With An Italian Twist

In lieu of a plane ticket to Palermo, these silky accessories are a practical and summery delight …

I know I’m not the only one with a thing for Slip’s silk hairbands. I always have one on my wrist, and hate losing them (they’re expensive – usually around €45 for a set of three; though I’ve just spotted a set on www.flannels.ie for €32 and may succumb). If your hair is prone to breakage, or is fine, these feel like a kind way to tie your hair up or back without causing further stress.

Slip’s pillowcases (from around €85; www.slip.com) are lovely and smooth to sleep on, kind to hair and can be washed at 30 degrees without wrecking them.

And they recently launched a collection of hair-matching shades – from auburn to silver, gold and black and all the brunettes in between. Such a simple but clever idea – like skin-toned shapewear, but for your hair. These are in stock at www.brownthomas.com, with four packs of skinny scrunchies at €34.

This season they also have the La Dolce Vita range of sunny sleep masks – the Capri one would make a lovely gift – and pillowcases in glamorous sunshine shades – a tonic to wake up to when the weather does not quite embody a Roman Holiday. We love the lemon design on the Portofino silk pillowcase. A 12-piece set of mini scrunchies in cheering fresh shades of citrus, Aperol and pistachio, is €50. In lieu of a plane ticket to Palermo (there are now direct flight from Dublin), these silky accessories are a practical and summery delight.
