Swedish fast-fashion giant H&M has announced news of its latest designer collaboration, none other than Irish designer Simone Rocha. The collection will be released online and in H&M stores on March 11. Encompassing womenswear, menswear and childrenswear, there will be something for the entire family. Each category combines a full wardrobe; special occasionwear, including tulle dresses and tailoring, alongside knits, shirting, outerwear such as trenches, casual t-shirts, accessories, including Rocha’s signature sparkling jewellery and pearl-embellished footwear.

Carving a niche with her ethereal, feminine designs, Rocha has included all of the traits she’s most known for; pearls, flowers, beads and bows, broderie anglaise, tulle and lace. Ten years after launching her own brand, Rocha said it felt like the right time to explore her archives – she spent time reflecting on her brand’s archive, combing her past collections and carefully reworking favourites into dynamic new propositions that feel right for today. Speaking about the collaboration, Rocha said: “It truly is a celebration of the signatures of my brand, and the influences that have shaped me. As a designer, and as a customer, I’ve been such a fan of the H&M collaboration concept. Margiela, Alber Elbaz, Comme des Garcons – it’s such an amazing list of alumni to be a part of.”

Adamant that the quality of the pieces would have to be of a high enough standard, size-inclusive and encompass sustainability, Rocha was pleased with the use of organic cotton, recycled polyester, a new compostable yarn. Top picks include her signature puff-sleeve dresses (pictured above) and pearl-lined brogues and accessories.

The campaign stars models, sisters and friends of Rocha’s, Adwoah and Kesewa Aboah, as well as Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones, Tess McMillan, Kelsey Lu, Francesca Hayward and Micheal Ward.

For kids expect miniature versions of signature Simone Rocha dresses in white cotton poplin and matching pearl hair accessories.

Celebrating Rocha’s personal inter-ethnic heritage and the myriad inspirations which have defined the growth of her label, from the traditions and crafts of Hong Kong through to the greats of art history, Rocha says: “Being able to do something and share it across all ages, all sizes, all nationalities, it was really important to me that the collection brought femininity, strength and modernity.” Act quick on March 11, these modern heirlooms won’t hang around for long.
