Spring’s Peppy Suiting Is Here To Kickstart Your Wardrobe

It may have been on hiatus but the array of fresh suiting for spring is enough to tempt you back to the two-piece  …

Has suiting staged a comeback? After nearly two years of being relegated to the back of wardrobes, it looks like we’re finally ready to embrace the joy of the two-piece again. (See the fashion shoot in the March issue of THE GLOSS & The Mix which is a tribute to just that.)

You can’t beat the satisfaction of a suit. The crisp feeling of an all-in-one look means you never fail to feel polished. Spring’s array of suiting knows how to appeal to a post-Covid-19 world, too. Meaning: it’s less about somber suits for boardrooms, more about co-ordinates that speak to a sense of fun and adventure. Think Paris label Rouje’s latest addition – a three-piece suit which nods to bygone times and also has a hint of safari.

Likewise at Emilia Wickstead, a single-breasted blazer has feminine flair thanks to a motif of green roses. How will you wear yours? Do as Net-a-Porter does, below, and style a suit with a silk handkerchief top. (The only acceptable nod to Y2K you’ll find in the world of tailoring.)

In spite of the decline of traditional suiting, Ruby Slevin of Irish slow fashion brand Banshee of Savile Row, says you cannot deny its eternal allure. “Typical business suits are becoming less and less common as people want to have fun with colour and expression. That said, a killer Banshee black suit is a must. If designed correctly, it can serve so many of life’s events,” she says.
