Saturday Workshop

Father and daughter duo Edward and Iseult O’Cleary of Saturday Workshop produce simple wooden animals and geometric puzzles together in their small workshop in Sandymount, Dublin. With a combined background in architecture, engineering and furniture making, their products are made from sustainable Irish beech hardwood and work perfectly as well for adults as they do for kids. Give their wooden cow a new home this Christmas.

BTU Studio

BTU Studio was the first independent glassblowing studio in Northern Ireland. It was created by Scott Benefield and Andrea Spencer in 2011, and they have recently opened a new studio in Ballintoy, Co Antrim, where they have glassblowing facilities on a farm near the northern coast. Creating both functional and decorative objects they produce one collection a year. The 2017 collection features storage jars, pouring vessels and tea light holders. These are special pieces that show the passion and careful work that goes into them, the glass filigrana vase makes a neat gift.

Wild Cocoon

Deirdre Duffy is a weaver from Co Mayo who launched her brand Wild Cocoon to produce quality textiles that are hand woven on a traditional floor loom. With a contemporary design, Deirdre melds the old and new, taking inspiration from a long family tradition of hand knitting (namely from her grandmother who was a traditional Aran knitter) and using a colour palette inspired by in the west coast of Ireland. The Shore Line Scarf is hand woven from lambswool sourced from an eco mill in Scotland – we’d use it as a blanket/throw too! The perfect solution to chilly winter nights, gift it to someone special this Christmas.
