Whether it’s a stocking filler or a small gift for a friend, lip care kits are always welcome in winter. We’ve tried a mountain of lip balms and butters, and these are our favourites:
For my money, L’Occitane do some of the best lip care – the Raspberry Crush Delicious Lip Scrub (€16) has a lovely sweet taste, and it works well to exfoliate lips gently, using pomelo and pomegranate oils; follow up with utterly lush Delicious Multi-Balm (€22), with shea butter. The whole thing’s like a delicious and colourful picnic for lips. www.ie.loccitane.com
Tinker Taylor is a new brand at Liberty London dreamed up by UK make-up artist Zoe Taylor, who works with top brands from Chanel to Estée Lauder and assisted Charlotte Tilbury for six years. This neatly packaged kit of scrub, oil and balm – to be used in that order – features natural, vegan ingredients like cinnamon, organic cane sugar and grape seed oil to exfoliate, nourish and protect your lips. £64stg (items can be bought separately) at www.libertylondon.com and www.tinkertaylorbeauty.com.
Beauty range Fresh landed in SpaceNK Ireland recently, bringing its cult sugar scrubs and skincare, including the brilliant Soy Cleanser, to Ireland at last. One of my absolute favourites is the Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip treatment SPF15 which protects and hydrates lips and gives them a rosy glow as if you’ve been outside on a cold day. €23.50, at SpaceNK, Grafton Street, Dublin 2.
Had to add a fourth on here – Kiehl’s Buttermask for Lips is a lush overnight treatment with coconut oil and mango butter, currently €21.25 at www.Debenhams.ie. Lash it on before bedtime to help repair dry and flaky lips.
