We’re signing up for a Breadmaking Masterclass at Brooklodge & Macreddin Village on September 12 or 26, which includes a tour of the village, followed by tips and recipes from Evan Doyle for organic flatbread, sourdough, brown bread and more. Attendees will see how to bake bread the old-fashioned way using a soda pot over an open turf fire. From €165, which includes overnight accommodation.

Enrol in the one day Breadmaking Workshop at Cooks Academy, South William Street, Dublin 2 on Saturday September 22 from 10am – 4pm. €185.

Mags Morissey from Hedgehog Bakery, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, is leading an introduction to sourdough on Saturday September 29 from 10am – 3pm;

Riot Rye Bakehouse & Bread School, Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary, run by Julie Lockett and Joe Fitzmaurice specialise in sourdourgh. There are still places available on the Baking Course Level One on Tuesday November 27.

Patrick Ryan is a Fáilte Ireland “food champion” and has been leading the bread revolution since setting up his Firehouse Bread School on Heir Island, West Cork. The Firehouse organises one day, and evening courses which are all currently booked up. However sign up their mailing list for future courses with the master baker.
