Don’t forget your other half when it comes to accessorising on the Big Day. Classic jewels make ideal gifts – here are three of our favourites:
Cufflinks are a perennial favourite wedding day – smart and useful, they are sure to be worn for years to come. Tiffany & Co. has a huge range, from simple sterling silver to fun symbols and materials that show a bit of personality – titanium is a stylish choice. Closer to home, Soul Engraver will engrave the soundwave of a special message (maybe the sea crashing along your favourite walk together, or even a simple ‘I love you’) on silver or gold, while the Irish Design Shop’s own-design geometric collections are sculptural and feel so beautiful on.
A dress watch should be neat, elegant and always with a leather strap. The super slim case (and the croc-embossed strap) of Longines’ La Grande Classique has a vintage appeal, while the Reverso by Jaeger le Coultre is an ultimate classic – originally designed for polo players so they could protect their watch face during play, the whole case flips over to reveal a plain back that could be engraved with a sweet sentiment to mark the day.
Lapel pins are infinitely wearable, and for the last few years have been growing in popularity, helped in no small part by well dressed celebrities from Common to Timothy Chalamet embracing something sparkling on the red carpet. This is a super opportunity to perhaps borrow something sentimental from your mum for the big day, but for something different, look to Sam Lafford, an extraordinary jeweller with a beautiful new Westbury Mall outpost. This treasure trove of his work includes one-of-a-kind pieces made by him here in Dublin as well as a select edit of antique jewels. My favourite pieces for a smart groom include this excellent Fleur-de-Lys pin set with a stunning rose cut diamond, an original Art Deco sapphire and diamond brooch or a thin bar of rubies and diamonds, which would look particularly well on the lapel of a tuxedo jacket. Lafford will also undertake bespoke commissions.
