How to Throw the Ultimate Summer BBQ

Spend less time in the kitchen and more time at the table this summer as Marks & Spencer make outdoor entertaining easy. The new range of summer salads – think roasted sweet potato with smashed spiced carrot, crumbled feta and pumpkin, and turmeric spiced cauliflower and potato salad – and grilled specialities such as garlic and herb flat iron steaks, The Best Ever Burger and beef meatball skewers, means your barbecue table will be an explosion of flavours with something for everyone.

Save yourself extra time by picking up some short-cut sides: ready prepped roasting vegetables and vegan-friendly Plant Kitchen grain pouches are big timesaving hits. Pop into large serving dishes and allow guests to help themselves. The ash wood salad bowl(€40) is perfect for this. As guests arrive and you fire up the BBQ, put together a charcuterie board of Parma ham, olives and salami and add a selection of your favourite cheeses. Serve alongside a loaf of 30-hour San Francisco Style Sourdough cut into thick slices.

When dressing the table, less is more; as it will be jam-packed with food dishes, keep accessories and decoration to a minimum. All you need is a nice tablecloth (look for earthy, neutral colours), linen napkins and wooden serving utensils. Cut some stems from the garden and place into jam jars so that they won’t get in the way of conversation around the table – or indeed, any hungry hands!
