How This Jo Malone Candle is Helping to Shine a Light

This year Jo Malone London’s Charity Home Candle Collection will support PIETA HOUSE

It’s not often you can treat yourself and do a bit of good at the same time, but today Jo Malone London launched a new initiative that supports several charities, including Pieta House, the Irish charity providing free, community-based support for those struggling with mental health problems.

This year, Jo Malone London’s Charity Home Candle Collection (available at Brown Thomas and Arnotts now) includes the new Lily of the Valley & Ivy, as well as the existing Charity Candles, White Lilac & Rhubarb, Peony & Moss and Iris & Lady Moore. For each of these sold (in both the UK and Ireland), the company will donate 75 per cent of the retail price (€52, less VAT, so €30 per candle) to a group of charities including Pieta House, and in particular its Resilience Academy, a six-week programme for second year students. This initiative has never been more valuable: Ireland has the highest rate of death by suicide among teenage girls in Europe, and the second-highest rate among teenage boys, and Pieta House offers support programmes to help young people recognise when they need to ask for help, develop coping skills and “shine a light on mental health”, says Elaine Austin, CEO.
