Hot Designer: Mignonne Gavigan

A designer for anyone who loves COLOURFUL, PLAYFUL JEWELLERY

WHO? Mignonne Gavigan, originally from North Carolina, studied at the Sorbonne as well as Parsons Paris and New York. She launched her name-sake collection in 2014 after working as an accessory and footwear designer for Marc Jacobs, Loeffler Randall and Rachel Roy.

WHAT? Her signature Madeline earrings and scarf necklaces are super-light and inject a playful edge into even the most pared-back outfit. They are created around the idea of couture beading and all made on a crinkled chiffon base. Wear them with a printed midi dress or a great jacket, jeans and sneakers.

INSPIRATION: Gavigan travels a lot, visiting local markets for inspiration.

FUNNY FACT: “I was named after my godmother Mignonne LaChapelle – she and my mother were Pan Am hostesses. My father wanted to call me Mary Magdalene,” she says.

STYLING TIP: She likes to wear two necklaces at a time for added drama.

LOOK OUT FOR: A homeware line coming soon. It’s a natural fit.

Mignonne Gavigan is at Loulerie, 14b Chatham Street, Dublin 2.
