The runway shows in London, New York, Milan and Paris might be the last place you’d think to look for Halloween costume inspiration, but this season brands from Dolce and Gabanna to Marc Jacobs all showed looks worthy of recreation on October 31 and we are taking inspiration straight from the catwalks. Halloween is now a high-fashion affair.
No one did it better than Miuccia Prada this season, who played homage to Halloween favourites The Addams Family and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein in her AW19 collection – seemingly embracing the horror of recent times. “I would say that it reflects the current world, where there is a lot of danger, a lot of fear, a lot of war around us,” said Prada. Models paraded down the runway with Wednesday Addams’ signature twin plaits, wearing dresses and sweatshirts emblazoned with images of Frankenstein and his bride.
