Throughout the month of February, the Oyster Bar at Cliff Townhouse and its downstairs neighbour Urchin Bar, 22 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2 will be serving a tempting “Share the Love” seafood platter and donating €5 from each platter to Focus Ireland. The ‘Share the Love’ platter is available every day at the Cliff Townhouse Oyster Bar from 12-2.30pm and from 5pm to close, and in Urchin Bar from Monday to Thursday from 5pm and Friday and Saturday from 12 noon.


If a fairy-tale getaway in the heart of Killarney National Park appeals then Muckross Park Hotel & Spa’s Valentine Escape is great value. The two-night package from €220 per person sharing includes bed and breakfast, a four-course evening meal on one evening, complimentary bike hire, use of the vitality area in The Spa and a glass of bubbles. Available between February 14 – 17.


At GLOSS HQ we’ve been trialling Lily O’Brien’s Crispy Hearts (€5) and the Petit Desserts Collection (€10). Beautifully wrapped and tied up in a romantic, candy pink bow, they don’t last long in the office!


For singletons there’s a chance to be a part of a record breaking Speed Dating event at CHQ on February 14. The organisers need more than 655 attendees to beat a previous record and there is plenty of incentive to attend. Cork’s boutique Montenotte Hotel, Middle Glanmire Road, Cork City is offering a sweetheart package for two starting from €234. The Panorama Bistro with its award-winning menu and spectacular views of Cork below, is the perfect setting for dinner while the hotel’s in-house cinema room, The Cameo, is an ideal way to round off the evening.


Receiving a card never goes amiss and the Irish brand Paperbear’s new range of pop-ups includes love balloons, bouquet of roses and a cute romantic whale.


The Crate’s Valentine’s Day Bunch will appeal to fans of F Scott Fitzgerald. Accompanying their specially curated floral bouquet of roses with waxflower, myrica gale and tuberose is an illustrated card with a quote from the celebrated author, designed by Irish illustrator Conor Merriman.


For traditionalists, an overnight Valentine’s escape at the cosy Hunter’s Yard at Mount Juliet Estate Hotel will appeal. The Love Hearts package is available from €295, (valid from February 14 – 27), and includes an overnight stay, a bottle of bubbles, a red rose on arrival, dinner served in The Hound at Hunter’s Yard and breakfast the following morning.


There’s still time to book dinner for two at the superbly lit and beautifully decorated Glovers Alley on St Stephen’s Green. Chef Andy McFadden proposes two options for dinner: the four course Valentine’s Day Menu is €80 per person, or €130 with wine pairings, and the Valentine’s Day Tasting Menu (with eight courses) is €105 per person or €195 with wine pairings. There will be two sittings, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and from 9:00pm onwards. Reservations are via the website
