A random selection of beautiful, useful beauty items: three things we are putting on our own CHRISTMAS LISTS and hoping we’ve been good enough for …
A big glass bottle of Santa Maria Novella Cleansing Milk, from the age-old Florentine skincare company that has a boutique in Westbury Mall. I’ve had a bottle that’s lasted all year – it looks elegant, feels light on the skin and cleanses beautifully and gently. And it lasts absolutely ages. €59. Also, the big bottles of rosewater are wonderful for refreshing skin, especially sensitive skin (a good gift for skin-conscious teens), €21. They also do fabulous gift boxes – the ones for men are beautiful and useful, and an instant problem-solver. 26 Westbury Mall, Dublin 2.
A bottle of Cloon Keen’s outstanding eau de parfum, Roisin Dubh (“little black rose”). I wrote about this back in September (it was originally named Ghost Writer) and it’s still my perfume of the year. Created by rising star perfumer Meabh McCurtin, it’s a blend of dusky rose with a suede and ink accord, iris, patchouli and smokey incense that’s incredibly atmospheric and unique. €150 www.cloonkeenatelier.com and Brown Thomas.
As a perfume-aholic, I’d greedily also love this Frederic Malle Discovery Set of 22 mini bottles is a dream – it comes with a red bakelite travel spray to switch them into (€485). So many of the scents are stunning that it’s hard to choose just one, but with this you could wear a different one every day of the month. Or else talk to the experts at the counter in Brown Thomas to try and track down the one you love the most .. www.fredericmalle.eu.
