Glossy Christmas Gift Guide: Three of the Best Oils

Perfect for your Mum, sister or best friend, SARAH HALLIWELL shares her top picks …

Whether you choose one for body, face or bath, a glass bottle of fragrant oil is always a winner. It instantly suggests indulgence and relaxation, and it’s something you might not buy for yourself, but is always a treat. There are plenty of other Irish options – check out names like Nunaia, Oxmantown and Voya. Here are three of our all-time favourites:

Fiona Hedigan’s Flora & Fiona oils (above) are fragrantly beautiful and reasonably priced – they’re just as good as expensive designer options. There’s body oil (€46) and a travel rest oil (€28), but I especially like her relaxing bath oil for evening and reviving shower oil for morning (€28 each); get both in a set for €50. At Avoca stores and

Fiona Carr’s Bare Chic skincare, made in Galway with the finest local organic raw ingredient and presented in violet glass bottles, is a real insider’s secret. It’s one of my all-time favourite discoveries in beauty. The Glistening Body Oil (€55) is a blend of pure oils, including lemongrass, avocado and sea buckthorn, and it’s just divine.

I’m a big fan of Votary skincare – the night facial oil is a regular. Antidote Bath and Body Oil is expensive but can be used on skin or in the bath; smooth it onto chest and neck at night and the light natural scent will help you sleep. €97 at SpaceNK.
