The Christmas Sparkle Afternoon Tea at Powerscourt Hotel, Resort & Spa, Co Wicklow, is a special collaboration with Boodles inspired by diamonds and the festive season. Served daily, until December 23, in the hotel’s Sugar Loaf Lounge which boasts beautiful views of the landscape, all guests who book the Christmas Sparkle Afternoon Tea will have the opportunity to win a Boodles diamond pendant worth €1,900. As for the menu, it has been created by executive chef Tony O’Donnell who has incorporated the luxury of Boodles into the sweet treats. The new Festive Afternoon Tea menu at InterContinental Dublin is priced from €40 and is served with a choice of Shibui loose-leaf tea, gourmet coffee, or a glass of Perrier-Jouët champagne. Expect fluffy scones and jam, traditional sandwiches with smoked Irish salmon with dill cream cheese, as well as delicious open sandwiches of crab salad and roast beef with horseradish. Sweet treats include chocolate orange and hazelnut sponge; panettone bread and butter pudding as well as Christmas Cheesecake. To county Fermanagh for Lough Erne Resort’s Festive Afternoon Tea, which can be enjoyed in front of a roaring fire with a menu boasting savoury offerings such as smoked Glenarm salmon served on Guinness wheaten bread, while banoffee, a white chocolate cinnamon Yule log and Christmas Bon Bon are some of the sweets. The Festive Afternoon Tea in The Restaurant by Johnnie Cooke on Level 3 at Brown Thomas (from 3pm – 6pm) is one way to celebrate after some Christmas shopping. Featuring savoury treats such as Christmas coronation chicken, poached organic eggs with asparagus, black truffle and parmesan cheese, the Afternoon Tea is priced from €30, with plenty of sweet treats including a gluten free almond cake, mince pies and festive cranberry and pecan scones. Just 30 minutes from Dublin in the heart of Wicklow is Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort. Their Festive Afternoon Tea menu, served between 1.30pm – 4pm until January 7, includes beautiful sandwiches (roast turkey and cranberry, prawn cocktail on brioche…) home-made cakes and delicious treats such as mince pies topped with meringue, sherry trifle and shortbread.
