Everything You Need To Know About The Latest Bridgerton Fashion Collaboration

Netflix has joined forces with the British Fashion Council and Jenny Packham to reveal a collection of outfits by up-and-coming British fashion students to celebrate the launch of Bridgerton Season 2 …

As devotees are eagerly counting down to the release of the romantically scandalous Bridgerton: Season 2 on Friday, March 25, Netflix has joined forces with the British Fashion Council for a tempting style teaser. This latest collaboration focused on providing upcoming British fashion students Ifeanyi Okwuadi, Latifa Niyazi and Jeongmin Ji with the chance to work on the series, while being mentored by Jenny Packham – a favourite designer of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The trio’s brief was to create contemporary outfits drawing inspiration from both the Regency era and the characters from the show. “I’m a big fan of the show and its sexy, flirty and glamorous wardrobe,” explains Packham. “The students chosen – Ifeanyi, Latifa and Jeongmin – rose to the occasion and created jaw dropping ensembles carefully crafted with youthful energy and style. Talking through their designs and then seeing the garments materialise was inspiring. They designed without limitations and worked with the actors to perfect their patterns to create a modern take on Regency.”

London-born Ifeanyi Okwuadi trained as a tailor on Savile Row at Cad & The Dandy. Narratives around social, political and historical themes are a constant in his work. The applied approach to his design practice is based on a philosophy of “kaizen” – a Japanese term meaning “change for the better”. In 2021, Okwuadi won the Hyeres Grand Prix and in the same year began studying at Central Saint Martins – he is currently on the MA Fashion (Menswear) course, where he has received both a British Fashion Council scholarship and a Christopher Kane Platform scholarship.

Latifa Niyazi is currently an MA Fashion (Womenswear) student at Central Saint Martins, who graduated from Kingston University with a BA in Fashion in 2018. Niyazi’s work has been profiled in LOVE magazine and she has interned at Richard Quinn, Cecilie Bahnsen and Gareth Pugh. She often draws inspiration from her Afghan heritage to challenge the set perceptions of the female body within our society. She explores texture and colour, focusing on craftsmanship and infusing garments with emotion. Draping and creating volume are design signatures.

From an early age Jeongmin Ji loved art; he was inspired by his aunt, a painter in Korea, who challenged him to think beyond the traditional gender norms of fashion. For Ji, clothes are works of art – a way to tell a story. He references vintage patterns and designs from the early 20th century in his work, while his overall aesthetic is technical and detailed, focusing on precise cuts, fits, and flawless seams. He is currently studying for his BA in Fashion Design (Womenswear) at Central Saint Martins.

As Gemma Juviler, commercial director of the British Fashion Council says, “We are delighted to partner with Netflix once again, for the launch of the highly anticipated second season of Bridgerton. This long-standing partnership is testament to fashion’s role within culture and its importance within entertainment and TV.”

The outfits will also be worn by UK influencers on the red carpet at the world premiere of Bridgerton Season 2 at the Tate Modern on March 22; www.netflix.com
