Edge Only – Smart Irish Jewellery Design

Jewellery editor NATASHA SHERLING has some gift ideas for both men and women, from Irish brand EDGE ONLY

As the twinkly lights flicker through towns and cities across Ireland, and people get in the mood to gift, we love seeing all the independent designers putting their best foot forward to make the most of the season. It’s a chance to get noticed, and it’s always super to see shops that support this endeavour, particularly when it comes to promoting local talent.

Irish brand Edge Only have been touring the country – last week they popped up in Cork, and from this Thursday, they will be at Frost, the collective at The Fumbally Exchange running until December 21.

Known for her androgynous, playful aesthetic, the brand’s designer and owner Jenny Huston’s first collections referenced her roots as a DJ, with silver plectrums mixed in with electric guitars and gold lightning bolts – but now we’re starting to see Edge Only’s evolution, with a more grown up design feel. There is more fine jewellery, clean geometric lines and inherently wearable pieces. New this season are little initial pendants and earrings, which would make a beautifully personal gift – and are available in both silver and gold vermeil.

What we also love about Edge Only is the focus it gives to menswear – along with lapel pins, there is always a really strong selection of cufflinks and tie bars – just the ticket when shopping for a stylish man this season. One of Edge Only’s first designs, the phillips-head screw design is still a bit of fun, but we also love the bevelled edge cufflinks that are smooth, sleek and smart.
