In March 2018 Virgil Abloh was announced as Louis Vuitton’s new Menswear Artistic Director. His first collection for the LVMH brand reportedly sold faster than the sell-out 2018 collaboration with Supreme, and now Irish shoppers will have the chance to purchase his coveted collections in person. Friend and confidante of Kanye West, Chicago-born Abloh also runs his own Milan-based label, Off-white, has collaborated with brands including Nike (most recently designing Serena Williams’ outfit for the French Open this week), IKEA and Jimmy Choo, and is a DJ, playing sets at the world’s biggest music festivals, from Coachella to Sonar.
From May 31 until June 30 Louis Vuitton will unveil its first pre autumn-winter 2019 and Staples Edition collections by Virgil Abloh at Brown Thomas Dublin – a first for the luxury department store who have never before stocked Louis Vuitton menswear.
For the latest collection, Abloh looked to the travel focused heritage of Louis Vuitton, with inspiration from Japanese style, colours, public service and sports uniforms. Key items in the collection include logo windbreakers inspired by car racing jackets, leather bucket hats and high-top trainers with neon orange accents. Brown Thomas will also exclusively feature Louis Vuitton’s Staples Edition, a collection of wardrobe staples by Abloh.
Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections will be available at Brown Thomas Dublin from May 30 – June 30.
