Jennifer Rock’s brand-new book, The Skin Nerd Philosophy, lands later this month – and you can attend the exclusive launch event (and receive a signed copy).

If you haven’t come across The Skin Nerd yet, your skin will thank you for finding out. Jennifer Rock, the CEO and founder of The Skin Nerd, is a multi-award winning facialist and skin tutor. In 2017, Jennifer launched the world’s first online skin consultancy and membership service, now known as the Nerd Network and made up of over 15,000 clients worldwide, each with their own specific skin concerns and lifestyles. Her goal is to spread the word of skin health across the globe, utilising technology to do so. And her new book, The Skin Nerd Philosophy: Your Expert Guide to Skin Health, aims to change the way you think and feel about your skin.

But first, some background. As well as creating the Cleanse Off Mitt (recently featured in Caroline Hirons’ Summer Kit 2020), Jennifer Rock is founder and CEO of Skingredients, her range of results-driven, active skincare that’s suitable for daily use by all ages and skin types. Skingredients offers the perfect balanced diet for your skin, and it’s made up of key skincare necessities, with a primary focus on skin health. Having consulted with Nerd Network members from around the world via online skin consultations, Jennifer has a real understanding of what we want from our skincare.

The Skingredients® Core 4 represent four products that everyone can (and should) be using for a balanced skin diet and that form the basis of any Skingredients® recipe. With a cleanser, pre-serum, serum, and SPF packed with results-driven ingredients, together they promise (the clinically-proven kind of promise) to help protect, nourish and maintain the skin. Alongside the staples within the Core 4, Skingredients® is also home to two Mix + Match products which include a blemish-busting cleanser and ceramide-rich moisturiser, allowing you to zap any skin concerns that might be zapping your confidence. It tackles specific skincare concerns, and is multitasking; for example the Sally Cleanse, with 2 per cent salicylic acid, can be used as a cleanser, mask or targeted spot treatment. Skingredients is stocked nationwide and recently launched in the UK. Our favourite is the Skin Shield SPF 50 PA+++ (€42): we’ve been using it all summer and it’s a perfectly light tinted mineral-based skin protector from UV light and pollution, with no chalky whiteness.

Jennifer’s first book, The Skin Nerd: Your Straight-Talking Guide to Feeding, Protecting and Respecting Your Skin, has become a skincare bible, with its practical, back-to-basics approach and education on everything from ingredients in skincare to how to avoid common skincare pitfalls.

And this month, the new book, The Skin Nerd Philosophy: Your Expert Guide to Skin Health investigates skincare even further, taking a holistic approach to skincare across diet, exercise, mental health and featuring contributions from experts from across multiple disciplines. The Skin Nerd Philosophy is a multi-disciplinary guide to accepting the skin you’re in while taking care of its health, and includes advice from a range of experts in skincare adjacent fields, such as wellness, nutrition and even psycho-dermatology. Learn about the link between skincare and mental health, the movements of Skin Positivity and Skin Neutrality, as well as providing easy-to-follow Skin Protocols. You’ll also find key information on specific ingredients and the products you need for different skin scenarios. If you find the sheer choice of skincare bewildering, and have ever wondered what your skin really needs, Jennifer’s clear, no-nonsense approach will make everything crystal clear.
