The Irish Designers to Know for SS22

The Council of Irish Fashion Designers Debuted their SS22 collections this week – here’s everything you need to know …

A strong SS22 show was put forward by the Council of Irish Fashion Designers on Thursday morning. You only need take a glance at the 40 different collections on the ‘virtual’ runway to see how each designer’s take on the season’s shapes, colours and textures is so unique. The presentation was pre-recorded and premiered on the CIFD Youtube channel; it is a chance for Irish design talent to show off their new collections to the fashion press and potential buyers in the industry. It didn’t disappoint. From Eadach by Sara O’Neill, who opened the show with a print-tastic selection of silk separates and signature kimonos and Sarah Murphy’s ethereal, feminine silk gowns (a must-wear for any upcoming events) to Niamh O’Neill’s uber-elegant wearable dresses (floral and plain) and Lia Cowan’s joyous cotton balloon dresses, blouses and skirts, the show really had something for everyone. Many CIFD members provide bespoke design services and the Council has recently become a member of Guaranteed Irish and promotes local jobs in Ireland. Overall, designing during a global pandemic hasn’t affected the creative juices of the Council of Irish Fashion Designers, their creativity and resolve still shines through.
