Bridal Jewellery: All About Earrings

Jewellery editor NATASHA SHERLING on why STATEMENT EARRINGS are the perfect complement to your BRIDAL LOOK

Let’s talk bridal jewellery. There are the all-important rings, of course, but what about the rest of the accessories? To be frank, it is really all about the dress (and you!) so the jewellery is there as a little highlight. Earrings are our current go-to; they won’t compete with interesting necklines and will always add just the right touch of glamour.

What it comes down to is personal style – classic brides will love pearl earrings – their soft lustre will match a bridal glow perfectly; set as drops, like this Tiffany & Co. pair, they are just the ticket to add movement and interest against a veil. Sentimental brides will delight in borrowing something special, maybe from a family member – now is the time the get those pieces cleaned and ready for the Big Day. Risk-takers, however, will adore Ranjana Khan’s creations. Married to bridal designer/superstar, Naeem Khan, she knows a thing or two about accessorising incredible dresses. Her bejewelled, feathered chandeliers are simultaneously fierce and beautiful; true bridal standouts.

Final tip? If you’ve fallen in love with a pair of clip-ons (in particular those of the vintage variety), or have an aversion to base metal, bring your earrings to a good goldsmith – they can affix gold posts in place of existing fastenings to ward off any irritation.
