AISLINN COFFEY quizzes her fashionable friend, Clodagh Shorten, owner of Samui boutique, on her key buys for the new season
MY STYLE Cool and contemporary but quite casual – I’m more of a dresses-and-trainers type than a skirts-and-heels woman. I favour smart tailoring and a mannish, oversized silhouette. Quality is key too – I buy to keep, so I expect my clothes to last. I’M BUYING Zadig & Voltaire’s tailored tuxedo trousers with a red side stripe. My focus is on strong basics over occasion wear – think a fabulous coat (Dries Van Noten’s navy wool coat embroidered with lavender stems), ankle-skimming dresses (Ann Demeulemeester’s black satin dress) and oversized blazers. We’re delighted to have Clergerie at Samui this season so I will, without a doubt, be wearing their architectural heels. THE INVESTMENT A belted cashmere coat by Dorothee Schumacher. I just know I’ll love it and wear it for years to come. PUTTING AWAY Some of the black (shock horror!). I’m determined to introduce more colour into my wardrobe. There are some beautiful shades of red and mulberry in this season’s collections. MUST HAVE Over the last year, we’ve seen Golden Goose trainers explode in popularity. I can’t keep them in stock.
