Six New In Pieces From Irish Brands We Want Immediately

The best of new Irish design …

Maybe it’s the sense of impending freedom, maybe it’s the change in season but there’s something about right now that has us feeling a little, well, spendy. Personally, I’d gotten myself into the groove of not buying for so long (among many things I blame the pandemic messing with my fashion mojo, coupled with an ongoing desire to be more conscious) that I suddenly feel awakened to all of the beautiful pieces being designed and manufactured right on my doorstep.

The importance of shopping local is something we’ve all become more aware of these last few months. Particularly, since we saw the impact the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 had on small businesses. Buying Irish is a key pillar at THE GLOSS so with that in mind here is our round-up of the best new-in pieces by indigenous brands that are touching down this week …

Irish designer Jennifer Slattery, who specialises in exquisite handmade linen pieces, is expanding her wearable offering this autumn. One such addition is this chequered wrap top made in conjunction with Emblem Weavers in Co Wexford, 170; pre-order it here.

These Palm Candlesticks in aluminium with an antique brass finish lend a far-flung air to any tablescape or coffee table. A set of three cost €45 from the Designed Table; get them here.

We love Wexford brand Férí for its rich colours and vibrant prints and the label’s new autumn winter collection is no disappointment. (This bohemian dress, 329, is for us.) Nab it on pre-order now; email enquiries to faye@feri.ie.

A good camisole is arguably a wardrobe fundamental. Cork-born Sinead Keary knows this as she spent years honing her skills as a personal shopper before launching her eponymous label of luxury staples. The Becky camisole from the range was designed with fuller busts in mind; the thicker straps make it bra-friendly. €129.99; shop the Becky here.

Purveyor of hard-working leather hold-alls Julie Peelo has added a new style to her range of cross-body bags. The Lea camera bag comes with a little zhuzh care of a denim python finish and a playful flash of fuchsia. €225 at Peelo.ie; see more here

Is it even autumn if you don’t light up an atmospheric candle each afternoon? We think not. Ethereal Irish florist The Crate has teamed up with The Home Moment on an autumn candle, scented with top notes of fig and base notes of Tonka bean. You can buy it solo for €20 or purchase it with a bunch of fresh seasonal flowers for €57. Take your pick here.
