Your new collaboration with Helena has its roots in the Nineties – when you were both models. What did you most love about that era?

The classic styles, the casual way of dressing with an edgy feel and touch of rock ‘n’ roll. All of which are always an inspiration for all of my collections. It was a time when no one tried too hard but still looked effortless and chic.

What were some of your favourite experiences as a model?

Travelling the world at such a young age was such an incredible experience and something I will always cherish. My grandmother loved to travel, which is something she sparked within me, and it also explains why many of my collections are inspired by different cultures or locations around the world.

How did you meet Helena and what was the initial inspiration for the capsule collection?

Helena and I met in our East Village store in New York last year. She had been shopping there for years, and once I heard she was a fan of the brand, we finally had a chance to meet. We both have an affinity for our Danish roots, fashion, photography, art and everything in between, so we hit it off right away. It only felt natural for us to work on a project like this together.

Your collections have always been about easy to wear/day to night dressing. How do you define this new holiday collection?

That is still a focal point for this collection, Anine Bing designs are all about longevity, a timeless classic which can be styled for any occasion. The new Faye bodysuit, a strapless one-piece, is perfect to be dressed up, or paired with boyfriend-fit jeans or under a tailored blazer.

How and where will you be spending the holiday season yourself?

If everything goes as planned we will be spending Christmas in Denmark with my family, depending on travel restrictions and the world situation. I’m hoping to show my kids a cosy Scandinavian Christmas. If we won’t be able to travel we will stay home in LA.

How do you celebrate Christmas?

We celebrate Christmas the Danish way no matter if we are in LA or Denmark. We cook Danish food, sing the Danish Christmas songs and open gifts on the night of December 24. I try to make it super cosy for the kids. My mom always made Christmas so special growing up so I try to create that same magic for my children.

Typically what do you wear for Christmas?

For Christmas, I like being festive yet comfortable. This year I will probably wear our Ace blazer, Eleanor trouser and a crisp white t-shirt.

Where are some of your favourite places to unwind in LA?

Hiking up Griffith Park is a favourite with my kids and great exercise too! Go Get Em Tiger is a must brunch spot if you’re an avocado toast fan like me with an almond milk latte. I also love San Vicente Bungalows which is a members-only club, that’s where I go for meetings or a night out with my girlfriends.

Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?

The Claudia blazer and James trouser set is such a stand-out piece for me, it’s so sleek and 90’s but still timeless. Also, it’s very exciting to see Helena’s face on one of my graphic T-shirts – she’s such an iconic supermodel.

You’ve always been ahead of the curve when it comes to knowing what women want to wear and also about marketing your brand. Reviewing the year, how has it gone for you professionally?

As a team, we have learned a lot this year and we have been able to pivot and reprioritise as needed to meet our consumers’ needs. We have been able to continue with many of the plans we had set in place, such as launching our second fragrance Pure Noir, and have been overwhelmed by the response from our customers.
