A Glimpse Behind The Scenes at Louise Kennedy’s AW18 Show

LOUISE KENNEDY showed her AW18 collection in the garden of THE MERRION last week and we’ve got a gorgeous FASHION FILM of the show for you to watch at home …

Louise Kennedy launched her collection with a stunning show in the garden of The Merrion, the stone flag path around the dark, rectangular pool providing a natural catwalk, a row of black chairs on either side. A beautiful ballerina provided the overture, emerging from under an arch of purple hydrangea to dance, followed by the models in gorgeous shapes – dresses, suits and coats in wool, jacquard, cashmere. The collection is focused on building a versatile, elegant wardrobe, with a fresh casual-luxe approach to dressing for day and evening, work and weekend. Contrasting textures are designed to be worn together. Pieces can be worn formally or in a relaxed way – a tulle skirt with a cashmere sweater, a tweed jacket with cropped trousers. Rich tones of red and purple feature, as well as signature midnight and always-chic black. As ever, Louise makes fabric her starting point, using exquisite woven jacquards and tweed, silk and wool crepe. New sweater shapes seem oversized but are neat and flattering. Coats are generously cut and easy to wear and great new trouser and jacket shapes create a sleek new silhouette. The designer herself looked wonderful in a Karen jacket, fringed with ostrich feathers, and the star of the show, the Zoe tulle skirt.
