Banking on good weather, Penny McCormick is packing a picnic, taking in an open air yoga class and enjoying an outdoor theatre production …
WHERE: Two shows are taking place at Westport House, Co Mayo this weekend – David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny which explores the power of friendship on July 18, and an al fresco production of Wuthering Heights on July 20 at 7pm. Pack a chair and picnic (and prepare for all sorts of weather). Both performances are in partnership with Heartbreak Productions known for their interactive audience participation. Tickets to these family shows are from €12 per child, €17 per adult. Why not make it a proper break – Hotel Westport has a two-night family escape with breakfast and dinner on one evening from €500 total for a family of four. www.westporthouse.ie.
WHAT: Movement+ is a series of different workouts in locations around Dublin followed by brunch. The first fitness pop-up takes place in Herbert Park on Saturday July 20, and begins with a yoga session at 10am led by Laura Farrington, followed by a HIIT class at 11am led by coach Ant Lynch, and former professional dancer, Ali Lynch. The duo’s mantra is “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”. Once you’re done with burpees, squats and asanas, brunch beckons with a selection of breakfast bowls, porridge, granola or scrambled eggs provided by Avonmore Protein Milk. All tickets include one class, brunch and a goodie bag. Tickets start from €15 and are available on www.eventbrite.ie.
WHY: I’m thinking positively about the weather and ordering one of Balfes new picnic hampers to enjoy in St Stephen’s Green this weekend. There’s no need to bring a thing as Balfes provide hamper, cutlery, plates, glasses and blanket. As for the contents, the picnic spread for two people includes a charcuterie and cheese board, bread and dips, two superfood salads, two strawberry pots and a choice of pink lemonade or Pommerey POP champagne. This posh picnic is available until September 30 and costs €60 with Pink Lemonade and €110 with POP Champagne by Pommerey. To arrange, simply call Balfes (located in The Westbury, Dublin 2) a day in advance from 12.30pm – 5pm on (01) 646 3353. www.balfes.ie
