WHERE: The Festival of Light at Dundrum Town Centre runs from tomorrow Friday, March 22 until Sunday, March 31. Featuring interactive light installations and LED sculptures, including an immersive “Wave” reminiscent of the ocean, composed of 500 suspended orbs brought to life through light and sound. The light installation will no doubt appeal to budding photographers. WHY: We’re making tracks to visit a sustainable pop-up, which will be at Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre this weekend until March 23. As an antidote to fast fashion and throwaway culture, The Little Wooden Peg, Reuzi and Under The Willow Paper Co all offer ethical, environmentally friendly products for all the family. The pop-up is organised by three enterprising women behind the e-commerce ventures: Ruth Anna Cross, Pat Kane and Joan King, while their wares range from beautiful children’s clothing to greetings cards and body lotions. The popup is open from 9.30am – 5pm. www.thelittlewoodenpeg.com.
WHAT: Ultan Conlon is a singer songwriter from Galway, who has been quietly impressing audiences having performed with Jackson Browne, and supporting David Duchovny recently. The quality of his songwriting is matched by his voice which has been compared to that of the late Roy Orbison. He is performing at Whelan’s, 25 Wexford Street, Dublin 2 with his band The Night Owls and special guest Niamh Regan, this Saturday, March 23 at 8pm. www.whelanslive.com.
WHY: The informal atmosphere of La Marine Bistro at Kelly’s Resort, Rosslare, Co Wexford is matched by its moreish menu created by head chef Ronan Dunne, which offers a French bistro slant on seasonal Wexford produce. An early bird menu is available from 6.30-7.30pm at €24.00 for two courses or €28.00 for three courses. The new a la carte menu includes specialties such as Glenbeigh mussels, Kilmore Quay scallops, and Wexford lamb, while desserts include espresso panna cotta with hazelnut brittle, and a warm apple and plum cobbler with mascarpone ice-cream.
