What To Look Out For From Lancôme This Month

New lipsticks, an UPDATED PERFUME, a collaboration with OLYMPIA LE TAN and more, we’re excited for what’s to come from LANCÔME

Earlier this year we joined Lancôme for their international event, revealing their upcoming launches for autumn. It was held, rather fabulously, in Monaco, and the finale was a glittering dinner attended by Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz, all faces of the brand.

Here’s a little look at what goes into a launch like this. Lancôme took over the entire Villa La Vigie – an extraordinary pad set high up on a promontory overlooking the bay of Monaco that was the home of Karl Lagerfeld for a decade – with each room displaying a different launch. Some of the launches we saw are now about to hit counters: for example, La Vie est Belle L’Éclat L’Eau de Parfum (available from September 27 at counters nationwide, from €68, below).

We learnt about the challenges involved in creating the exquisite glass bottle – which took endless sketches and revisions to create the cut-glass effect, a feat of glass-cutting by traditional makers Maison Pochet – and met its perfumers, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo, two of the finest in the world. L’Éclat is creamier than the original, with fresh bright orange blossom adding a solar warmth to the rich vanilla – a citrus gourmand. We think it’s our favourite take on the scent yet – the orange blossom makes it really sunny.

We also got to try out the fabulous L’Absolu Rôses lipstick collection (also arriving at the end of September), masterminded by the brilliant Lisa Eldridge, and chat through it with her – she recommends wearing a different, complementary shade on the top and bottom lips if you’re not quite ready to experiment with full-on lip art. The L’Absolu Gloss comes in cream, sheer and matte finishes in 14 shades and it’s really moisturising and delicious to wear. Meanwhile, in the “science” room, with brilliant Med sunshine streaming in, science director Veronique Delvigne introduced us to Génifique Sensitive, a serum specially tailored for sensitive skin launching in September. It’s unique as the ingredients are only activated once you put them together yourself, and so it’s a really targeted and concentrated treatment you can save for bad skin days, or else use daily to soothe inflammation in skin.

Keep an eye in The Gloss Magazine over the next few months for more on these… Meanwhile, here’s a little look at a collection that sadly won’t be launching here, but is available in the UK, if you’re over. French designer Olympia Le Tan joined up with Lancôme to create this limited edition collection featuring brilliantly kitsch and fun palettes, plus lipsticks shaped like lips – seriously cute.
