Three SCENTED CANDLES from IRISH DESIGNERS to bring the summer inside …

Sadie Chowen, owner, nose and creator of The Burren Perfumery

Living in the Burren, summer for me is the delicate smell of wild meadow flowers, strewn with orchids and fragrant herbs. I love lighting delicately-scented natural candles to suit my mood. My summer favourites are the warm notes of Wild Rose & Geranium, the fresh honey notes of Meadowsweet with sunny Red Mandarin or, for a green, herb garden experience, the aromatic notes of Mint and Fennel. To refresh every corner of the house, I blend a few drops of organic bergamot essential oil and sweet orange into a pan of simmering water and let the delicate smells waft through the house for about 20 minutes.

Alix Mulholland, creator of Field Day and Field Apothecary

Scents are incredibly powerful; I can still remember the smell of pungent cut roses on the hall table in my parent’s home. Our homes are reflections of our own personal style and aesthetics, and candles are the perfect accessories as not only do they provide scent, they also add ambience. There are six signature scents in the Field Apothecary range to choose from. Try Field Apothecary Hay with grass, lavender and spearmint – it’s a perfect outdoorsy green scent for the summer months.

Karen Lavelle, designer and creator of Soilse

When I think about summer I think about long days spent on sandy beaches. Bright and fresh fragrances of sea salt blending with eucalyptus and wildflower top notes. We have captured this memory with our Connemara Mist soy wax candle which is carefully blended and hand-poured in small batches in our country studio.
