With the NEW SEASON comes thoughts of a NEW WARDROBE. Discover the six TOP TRENDS we’re buying now …
Iridescent metallics and cosmic embellishments are set to soar. Get on board with sparkle; try a metallic jacket, glittery top or even sparkly silver socks.
2. Navy blues
Maria Grazia Chiuri sent the most glorious deep hues of blues down the Christian Dior catwalk. Even the runway was lit up in navy blue lights. Sonia Rykiel and Chanel had smatterings of the same; coats, jackets and dresses. According to Christian Dior’s The Little Dictionary of Fashion, “Among all the colours, navy blue is the only one which can ever compete with black.”
3. Chunky boots
Make your look modern by teaming it with a pair of military-inspired black boots. Joseph Altuzarra nailed it, pairing thick-soled combat boots, complete with pearl-adorned eyelets, with feminine classic two-pieces.
4. In check
Designers have re-invented classic check staples. Checks and plaids blend brilliantly. Mix earthy, tweedy checks with sharp Prince of Wales-style checks, to channel classic geography-teacher chic.
5. Showpiece two pieces
The autumn runways were awash with long, lean trouser and skirt suits bringing a new lease of fashion life to everyday (working) wardrobes. The best way to wear them is with tone-on-tone tops or knits. Heels are the only way to show you mean business.
6. Seeing red
Red is back. From scarlet to crimson, if there is one colour to be seen in (head-to-toe) this season, it’s red. With tonal dressing, focus on texture, the more varied, the better.
