Today the sad news broke that one of fashion’s greatest designers, Hubert de Givenchy, has passed away at the age of 91. Throughout his long career – he opened his eponymous fashion house in 1952 – he designed for some remarkable women including Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman and, perhaps most notably, Audrey Hepburn, for whom he designed a number of outfits and costumes, including the black sheath dress she wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
