Glossy Gift Guide: Three Perfumes We Love

Beauty editor SARAH HALLIWELL selects three of the best UNISEX FRAGRANCES to gift your loved one this Christmas …

Perfume is notoriously difficult to buy for someone else, unless you know for sure they’re a lifelong Chanel No.5 or Portrait of a Lady devotee. There’s no such thing as a perfume that will please everyone, as we all have different tastes, but these three come pretty damn close … we can’t think of anyone who would turn their nose up at them – they are worth pushing the boat out for, and can be worn by men and women:

1 YSL Tuxedo (above) is one of our recent favourites and one that’s as flattering on both sexes as the tuxedo itself. It’s heavy on the patchouli, which is madly alluring, but has a lightness as well as warmth – it’s rich and strange, and very sexy. €175, at Brown Thomas.

2 Chanel Sycomore eau de parfum. Chanel’s very special Exclusifs collection comes in huge bottles with magnetic lids, and each of them smells amazing. It’s really hard to pick just one; the good news is that you can now get hold of five, including Jersey and Beige, in little 15ml bottles in selected stores. But if you’re splashing out on a big bottle, choose Sycomore, a warm, woody, spicey and smokey rich blend that’s nothing short of delicious.

3 Roja Dove Elysium is a fresh but long-lasting blend of lemon, bergamot, lime, thyme, rose and jasmine. It’s an investment scent that’s aimed at men, but we reckon it’s too good not to share. For something more obviously feminine, try Dove’s very beautiful and distinctive Rose. €275 at Parfumarija;
