Trinity City Hotel has teamed up with Vintage Tea Tours to give overnight guests the opportunity to explore the city in style, while enjoying a quintessential afternoon tea spread on “Pauline”, a vintage 1960s Routemaster bus.


Check-in to one of the hotel’s stylish newly-refurbished rooms before making your way to the nearby CHQ building across the Liffey, where you can board the dinky double decker before enjoying a tour of the city, accompanied by a vintage jazz soundtrack. The Vintage Tea Tour runs three times daily from Wednesday to Sunday. Prices for The Vintage Tea Break at the Trinity City Hotel starts from €219 per room, including breakfast and the tour.


Regardless of the weather, The Lodge at Ashford Castle has introduced a picnic in the form of an elegant afternoon tea, served from 2pm to 5pm daily in Wilde’s at The Lodge. When the sun shines on Lough Corrib, the Perfect Picnic Afternoon Tea can be arranged on the lawn.

Savoury goodies include Kelly’s of Newport lamb sausage roll, Andarl Farm pork pie with apple jelly, Burren Smoke House salmon, Dillisk cream cheese and pickled cucumber fingers, accompanied by a range of salads, slaws and sweet treats to follow. Crème brûlée, tiramisu espresso and Bea Tollman’s famous cheesecake are all in the hamper alongside homemade drinks served in vintage-style picnic bottles such as Alex’s Ginger Beer or Seb’s Iced Tea.

The Perfect Picnic Afternoon Tea costs €27.50 per person. Extend your picnic to include an overnight stay from €210 with breakfast.
