Fashion Week Hotspots: These Are The New Hotels To Be Seen In

As the four week run of FASHION WEEK kicks off in New York, TIM MAGEE rounds up the hottest new openings in the FOUR FASHION CAPITALS

Le Coucou at 11 Howard

New York

New York always has a rolling list of flash new hotels to check out, and Soho’s 11 Howard has subtle, sexy rooms and New York’s hottest restaurant, Le Coucou. But if Sherlock Holmes opened a hotel it might look like the clubby, historic Beekman, down at the World Trade Centre in a bijou 19th century skyscraper. Here Martin Brudnizki (famed for London’s Ivy and Le Caprice) and it had the most longest awaited restaurant opening of the decade, Keith McNally’s Augustine, come together to make a brand new landmark in New York life. And it’s not far from the best cocktail bar in the world, the Dead Rabbit. www.thebeekman.com.

Milan

Dangerously set above the Prada flagship store inside the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping malls and Milan’s living room. www.townhouse.it, Townhouse Galleria, Via Silvio Pellico 8, 20121 Milano.

The Ned

London

There are big splashy London openings this year – Ten Trinity Square, The Henrietta in Covent Garden, Nobu‘s hotel and, what might be seen as the daddy of them all, The Ned – but the cool and classy new Curtain in Shoreditch, with its rooftop pool and a Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster will do me thanks. www.thecurtain.com, The Curtain, 45 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3PT.

Hotel Saint Marc

Paris

The Ritz and some others of Paris’ grandest dames are getting some nip and tuck in now, but Paris also has some stylish new options like Hôtel Panache, designer Dorothée Meilichzon’s quirky, slightly retro homage to NY’s Flatiron Building in the 9th, or the chic little bolthole Hotel Saint Marc, with private hammam and Payot spa in a mansion in the 2nd, in the former gaff of the duc de Choiseul.

There are always new openings but fashion month and the bar and everything else in the Saint James Paris means that this Parisian hôtel particulier – my absolute favourite country house in the city – will be rocking in every way. www.saint-james-paris.com
