€26 and Under: 5 Beautiful Gifts for Mother’s Day

Here’s our pick of the best MOTHER’S DAY BEAUTY GIFTS costing €26 and under – these are all EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY, from long-lasting creams to cutting-edge skincare …

L’Occitane’s shea butter collection is one of our absolute favourites – we love the sustainable and fair trade ethos behind it, supporting women in Burkina Faso. And the products for hands and nails are especially ideal for very cold weather, as they are really rich yet not greasy. There’s a scrub and hand cream (a 30-year-old cult classic), but our pick is the newer Intensive Hand Balm (€25) in a big tube that will last for ages. Throw in some Nail & Cuticle Oil also for €15 if you’re feeling generous.

We also want to mention Atelier Cologne’s beautifully packaged, looks more expensive than it is Bergamot hand cream (€18 at Brown Thomas); the matching hand soap is €20.

This bottle is Irish, natural, fragrant and uplifting, plus it’s under €25: new into Alicja Tomczak’s Roza line is this Lemongrass Glowing Hydration Dry Body Oil, which is beautifully light, not remotely sticky or tacky, and leaves a citrussy scent on skin as well as moisturising it. Find it on www.rozanaturalcosmetics.com.

If your mum likes to be at the forefront of beauty trends, Lancome’s Advanced Genifique Hydroge Melting Masks are both a little strange and mightily effective: rather than a papery sheet mask, which can fall off unless you’re lying prostrate on the bed, this fits firmly to skin and delivers a smoothing and plumping dose of the cult Genifique serum. It feels slightly rubbery on your face, but for instant results – brighter, rested-looking skin – this is well worth looking pretty scary for 10-30 minutes. €20 per mask, at counters nationwide.

Send a big kiss to your mum – these lip-shaped cushions are fun, kitsch and affectionate. They’re part of a new collection at Ikea and they’re a tenner each.

A single red lipstick is the epitome of glamour and Elizabeth Arden have a special take on their classic Red Door Red throughout March, with a special March On limited edition, signed by ambassador Reese Witherspoon, in a fabulous red case. It’s a brilliant red that suits everyone – and the best thing is that 100 per cent of proceeds will be donated to UN Women, supporting women’s lives around the world. March On Beautiful Colour Lipstick in Red Door Red, €26 on www.elizabetharden.co.uk and in department stores globally.
