British designer TOM DIXON has teamed up with IKEA to create a range of MODULAR FURNITURE …
Much like fashion, interiors trends change with the season, and while it’s easy to update your wardrobe, replacing furniture and other interiors is a much larger task. But what if you could mix and match your furniture as easy as you can mix and match clothes?
Modular furniture has been on the rise over the past number of years, and IKEA are tapping into this trend with their latest collection designed in collaboration with Tom Dixon. Updating or refreshing your interiors isn’t just for aesthetic reasons, but also for practicality, and even necessity. In smaller living spaces, the same room may need to go from sitting room to office to lounge when hosting visitors, all in one day.
The DELAKTIG range is designed to be personalised by each customer, you simply purchase your preferred base (armchair, two seat sofa, three seat sofa or chaise lounge) and customise it using additional elements like side tables, headrests, armrests and lamps, while bases of different sizes can also be placed side by side to create larger sofas. The upholstery comes in three shades, light grey, dark grey and blue, which all sit on industrial-style aluminium bases in white and silver.
The possibilities are seemingly endless; you could have a “new” sofa every day of the week if you so wish. The DELAKTIG range by Tom Dixon will be available at IKEA from Thursday, February 1.
