Armoura: The Irish Ring Designer You Need To Know About

Don’t miss the eye-popping designs of sculptor-turned-jeweller ARMOURA for rings that PACK A PUNCH, writes Jewellery Editor NATASHA SHERLING

Fibonacci Ring, Gold with Coloured Stones
Although much of their work is bespoke, Irish jeweller Armoura have just created a new, ready-to-wear collection – and we got a little peek at a few of the first ring renders.

Standout pieces, utilising bold colour combinations and heavy metal weights characterise their style – designer Stuart McGrath began his design career as a sculptor, and his skills really show in the bold and brave forms of Armoura’s jewellery.

Arclight ring, 14K Yellow Gold with clear diamonds

The Arclight is the most subdued in the new range of designs; the gleaming metal (it comes in rose, yellow and platinum) is interrupted only on the ring’s side, with an almost hidden glimmer of diamonds visible only when the finger is bent.

Trilliant ring, 18ct yellow gold with clear diamonds

The Trilliant ring is surprisingly comfortable to wear; the squared-off shape makes no difference to how it feels; only the finished look is affected. And again, the diamonds, so neatly set, catch the eye in the most unobtrusive fashion.

The Fibonacci ring, pictured above, is a cocktail ring in its truest form – a little bit flashy, its bold colour combinations and inverted stones beg to be noticed – but its fierce appearance conceals a dichtomy – this ring is actually quite delicate and needs to be protected; the bare points of the gemstones are open to damage during everyday wear. It really is a piece for special occasions.
