Make some time to INDULGE in a LUXURIOUS BATH …
Your morning shower or evening bath should be moments of escapism and pure pleasure at either end of a busy day. A bath or shower oil that’s beautifully fragranced will help to uplift, unwind or energise. The good news is we’re now seeing our favourite cult perfumes reinvented as bath and body products, from shower scrubs through to soaps and hair mists, so that bath time is a whole lot more luxurious. Layer your favourite scent to make it last far longer throughout the day or night … Here are five of the best:
1. Frederic Malle
Rarely has a bath and body line made us quite so delighted. But yes, you can now wear Carnal Flower hair mist. It almost seems a shame to use Lipstick Rose Body Wash (€45) in the shower, as it’s far too gorgeous to let it go down the plughole – this is the height of fragrant decadence. The set of soaps (€75) in six of the best Malle scents is pretty lovely too.
And as for Portrait of a Lady Hair & Body Oil (€150) … expensive, yes, but we’re really not sure we’ve tried a lovelier beauty product all year – the oil is silkily smooth and it’s the sexiest scent in the world. There isn’t a more sensual gift in the beauty world. At Parfumarija, 2 Westbury Mall, Dublin 2.
2. Maison Martin Margiela Replica
Beach Walk Dry Body Oil (€60) is a gorgeous post-holiday treat to self: you may no longer still be in flip-flops and brushing golden sand from your salty skin, but with a few drops of this, you’ll feel like you are. Salty, beauty and light. At Brown Thomas.
3. Jo Malone London
Lime, Basil & Mandarin is one of the world’s most famous colognes, and its newest incarnation is an Exfoliating Shower Gel (€35). Zesty, refreshing and gentle, with exfoliating bamboo stem, this gives you a fragrant wake-up call. There’s one for Pomegranate Noir’s legion fans too. A candle or body creme in the new September scent, the elegantly autumnal English Oak & Raspberry, would lift bathtime to a whole new level…
4. The Burren Perfumery
Layer lovely natural Summer Harvest eau de parfum with the Summer Harvest Body Lotion (€26) to spend the day in a long-lasting haze of meadowsweet and chamomile. At Avoca stores and www.burrenperfumery.com.
We’re clinging on to summer with spritzes of L’Occitane’s Verbena eau de toilette – it always reminds us of holidays. It’s light and fairly short-lived, though, so using the limited edition Refreshing Exfoliating Sugars (€26) and then Frappé Body Cream (€24) first makes the refreshing citrussy notes last deliciously through the day. The Frappé is gorgeously light and melts into post-holiday parched skin.
