At a loss for what to do THIS RAINY WEEKEND? Here are five very glossy things to do with your time including BRUNCH IN SMOCK ALLEY, dancing in an old estate, being WHISKED BACK IN TIME in Wicklow …

1. WONDER
at the last few days of Brittlefield: A Solo Survey of the Work of Aideen Barry in the RHA Gallery, which closes this Sunday. When Aideen Barry snapped up an arts residency in the Kennedy Space Centre in 2008, she created Vacuuming In A Vacuum, a video of herself floating in a vacuum chamber attempting to vacuum the dust. Her exhibition in the RHA is character-driven and fascinating. www.rhagallery.ie

2. BRUNCH
inside the beautiful stain glass windows of the Banquet Hall of Smock Alley before you see a matinée of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion downstairs in the theatre. The play is dear to our hearts for its tackling of feminism and gender issues in a manner that was decades ahead of its time. And also baked eggs with maple-drizzled bacon. Need we say more? Tickets from €25 available here

something at A Fair Land this weekend at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham. 4. GO BACK IN TIME at the Hollywood Fair, now in its sixth year, which celebrates Ireland’s rich agricultural heritage, with demonstrations in threshing, horse-shoeing, butter and bread making taking place in a wonderful background of vintage cars and steam engines in Hollywood, Co Wicklow. Throughout the weekend scenes from 1916 will be recreated, along with a slow-bicycle race at 7pm on Saturday. On Sunday, there will a Guinness World Record attempt for the largest number of people wearing flat-caps. An event the kids will certainly remember …
